Walker Racing Off-Season Update
As the long, eventful and historic 2008 season comes to a close, we wanted to take this opportunity to update our fans. Our last Atlantic race ended on October fourth, and for a number of reasons, we did not get the results that we had hoped for. Although our season didn’t go according to plan, the Atlantic series is now solved and so we anxiously look forward to the future plans of the series under the guidance of Mr. Ben Johnston.
Atlantics is a good formula and worth saving, so I compliment Mr. Johnston for having the courage and vision to try and save it. One of the best things about Atlantics is that it was closely aligned to Champ Car and drivers entering the series used it as a good stepping stone to Champ Car. Of course, now Champ Car is gone leaving the Indy Lights program as the feeder series for IndyCar. With that being said, the Atlantic Series needs to perhaps reevaluate where the series sits on the driver development ladder.
We are looking at a number of other formulas to compete in and would not rule out the possibility of doing Atlantics again. For us, it's really important to have a major program such as ALMS or IndyCar and use the Atlantics or Indy Lights to feed those programs.
Developing the sponsorship dollars and partners we need to move forward has been our primary goal. We have been 'fall cleaning' and emptying out a lot of surplus stuff we have collected along the way while we develop our 2009 program.
In addition to our 'fall cleaning', we have been tackling a number of sub-contract projects for interested companies who need specialized work done which our employees, with their wide range of expertise, can tackle. This has proven to be a beneficial source of income during our organizing.
As we continue to move along and develop our plans for 2009, we will keep our loyal fans updated. Thank you for your support.

"The Story behind the Story"
by Derrick Walker
As we previously released, Walker Racing has formed a new business relationship with two gentlemen called Charlie Patterson and Peter Olach. The duo are the principles behind a company called NexGen MTD., with offices in Indianapolis and Hickory, North Carolina. The objective of the program is to raise sufficient sponsorship funds to establish a new program that is targeted to support young and up-and-coming drivers seeking to grow their careers in open-wheel racing in North America.
There is little doubt that the NexGen MTD. and Walker Racing relationship has its work cut out for it in these tough economic times, but the interest and progress that has been made thus far is very encouraging. Our first program is to compete in the Firestone Indy Lights Series with a long term program for a nineteen year old Philippine girl, Michele Bumgarner (pictured is Michele visiting us last week). There will be more on this program and hopefully more in the coming months when the deals get done.On a cautiously optimistic note, we will sign off for now.
